Pride Dings

Have you ever been in a situation involving another person or group of people where you were left feeling angry, upset, or depressed? I have identified for myself the source of pain associated with those feelings: pride.

"Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee." ~ Ezekiel 28:17

I am committing with the help of the Holy Spirit to see those moments as "pride dings" and get on with life. What a delight it is to cast off oppressive thoughts and walk in love.

Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. ~ Isaiah 26:8

Autumn: crisp air and sweet spices

It's so funny how smells ignite memories. Today I had simply salted popcorn, although it was microwaveable it had the same distinct aroma of stove top popped corn - something my grandmother's sister would make when I was a child. I was very tasty. I may not buy pre-buttered popcorn again! My grandma would always get freshly shelled peanuts from the field and roast them in the oven this time of year. I'm looking forward to getting to the State Farmer's Market to get some peanuts to roast. I'm really digging scratch or semi-homemade cooking. Last night I made my first attempt at chicken pot pie!

My Statement of Faith

The foundation and compass behind my writings...

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord in November 2006. I belong to a non-denominational bible teaching church that promotes foundational truths and family values. I believe:

  • The inerrancy and total authority of Scripture, as the 66 books of the Bible and the inspired Word of God.
  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His return in power and glory.
  • In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling every Christian is able to live a godly life.
  • That all people are lost sinners and must turn to Christ (he is the only way, the truth, and the life and no one can come to the Father except through him) in saving faith and repentance for regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
  • In the resurrection of both those who believe in Jesus and those who do not believe: those believing to eternal life with Christ and those unbelieving to eternal punishment in a literal hell.
